Buttercup poisoning in a dog
This could be a difficult diagnosis unless, as here, the owners have actually seen the dog chewing buttercups. This poor chap was salivating intensely and had widespread patchy erythema of the oral mucous membranes and ‘geographic’ pale discolouration plus sloughing of the lingual mucosa.
He recovered fully within a few days.
